This year in Singapore, we are privileged to host the Founders Forum at the 17th APSIPA Annual Summit and Conference (ASC). This special session brings together our distinguished Past Presidents and Founders, who will share with our members and attendees the inspirations and motivations behind the creation of APSIPA. Their vision, conceived 17 years ago, was to establish a professional society that could bring together academics, researchers, students, and industry leaders across the Asia-Pacific region in the fields of Signal and Information Processing.
Since its founding in 2009, APSIPA has grown from its inaugural conference in Sapporo, Japan, to become a vibrant international community. Over the past 17 years, APSIPA has successfully organized annual conferences across Asia, and the United States, launched the APSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing journal, and developed a broad spectrum of technical committees, local chapters, student initiatives, and industry collaborations. This legacy reflects the unwavering dedication of our founders and past presidents in building a society that not only represents the Asia-Pacific community but also provides a global platform for knowledge exchange and innovation.
This forum is not only a reflection on our history; it is also an invitation to the future. APSIPA is meant to be more than a conference or a journal; it is a professional home for our members. It is a place where ideas are nurtured, collaborations are forged, and new generations of students and researchers are empowered to lead. By embracing APSIPA as your technical society home, you are joining a community rooted in inclusivity, collaboration, and excellence, while also shaping the future directions of our field.
We hope that this Founders Forum will inspire every participant to take pride in APSIPA’s 17-year journey, contribute actively to its growth, and carry forward the vision of building the premier professional society for Signal and Information Processing in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
